Why only maths
Because it is the subject a parent is most often asked for help with at 7pm and least able to give, and because doing one subject properly is worth more than doing eight adequately. Every tutor on loop is a registered teacher, and we would rather have enough of them free to answer a maths question in seconds than a longer list of subjects nobody is available for.
Other subjects follow once maths is working the way it should. We would rather tell you that plainly than list subjects you cannot actually book.
Year levels
Years 1–6
Number sense, place value, times tables, fractions — the things that quietly decide whether the next four years feel possible.
Years 7–10
Where maths stops being arithmetic. Fractions and decimals, ratio and proportion, the first algebra, geometry and measurement.
NCEA Levels 1–3
Algebra, graphs, trigonometry, calculus and statistics — including the internals, and the question that came home in a test you cannot help with.
Whichever pathway your child is on
When you set up your child’s profile you tell us whether they are following the New Zealand Curriculum and NCEA, Cambridge, the IB, or homeschooling. Their tutor sees it before the lesson starts, so the twenty minutes goes on the maths rather than on working out which syllabus you are in.
Wanting a subject we do not teach yet?
Tell us which one and what year level — patrick@loop.study. It is genuinely how we decide what comes after maths. If you are a registered teacher in another subject, we would like to hear from you for the same reason.
